FAMILY OF LOVE SCORE CONCEPTS AND EXAMPLES

This project looks amazing and insane. Totally intrigued and can’t wait to watch it! After our phone call, and reading and looking at the deck, I started to think of ways the score could bring something unique to the story. Conceptually, I really do like the idea of “all is ok” on the outside, while something is “dark” and lurking underneath. The score can feel slightly innocent and hopeful to suggest a layer of lightness while unease and tension thread throughout.

Here is a small selection of new things I’ve been working on for a few upcoming projects but that seemed to be good illustrations of possible direction (PS not to be shared!)

PALATE IDEAS

Something that intrigues me is to make the score feel fairly simple and open as if it is created by a small group (I like the idea of recording a lot of the sounds in my big live room at my studio) with :

  • organ,

  • choir,

  • solo voice,

  • harp,

  • organic percussion (use hands instead of sticks or mallets),

  • some early monophonic synths (IE Wendy Carlos Williams “The Shining”)

  • and instruments that I’ll will custom build that tilt to something almost familiar but not enough,

  • and strings (strings that are done from small ensembles) plucking that isn’t classical more sound design?
